Spring Fashion: Top Picks

As you will all probably know by now, I am more beauty and cosmetics and all of those products over fashion, but I do still really enjoy new trends and the latest thing for the season. The thing that caught my eye recently is how big Pastels have become for spring time. I love them! I just think they perfect for spring as they are such soft colours so they are great for spring time. Now I know it's not officially spring yet but I started writing this on Wednesday and they was such a lovely sunny warmish day so It made me feel like spring is coming! I have just put together a little collage of all of my favourite pieces from a few different stores for all of you out there that doesn't really know where to start, you can just slowly build the pieces up to make some great outfits. Don't worry, you don't have to go full pastel unless you want too but even just the odd item can really make your outfit seem a little more spring like!

Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Thank you Erin for tagging me, see her blog here

I thought I would do it as it's just a little question/answer post!

On to the rules:
1. You must copy and paste these 'rules' onto your post when you write it, it doesn't take long!.
2. You must state that this tag was created by 'The Beau Bow' and link www.thebeaubow.blogspot.com
3. You must thank the person who tagged you at the start of your post (link their blog as well) -follow them if you're feeling nice!, and then at the end of your post state who you tag, and then comment on their blog on their latest post to let them know you tagged them, and link your post so they can see what to do.
4. Title this post 'The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG' so everyone knows what it is about.
5. Have fun! :)

Questions:
1. Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do?
There isn't really one that I don't do... I cleanse tone and then pack my skin with moisturiser and serums and scrub every morning and exfoliate every couple of days!

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something that you do regularly?
Yes it is. I do it once a week, but depends when I get time and also depends on the colours I've used on my brushes! Can't follow black with light pink!

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
A day or so, I'll fix it as soon as!

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing beauty or nail product even if you need it?
I don't... All my essentials I tend to have another one, whether it be a different brand or not, I'll never run out!

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
I wouldn't say I have any... I think everyone's different when it comes to beauty so it's more personal preference!

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time:
The washing and ironing.. Who even likes doing that?

7. When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to the last minute or not?
No way! Good make up takes time, you don't want to rush it!

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
It's tough to say, I already know my limits of what I can and can't say so I suppose I could if I needed too!

9. How organised is your makeup and nail polish collection?
Pretty organised at the moment, just need to get some trays to section everything in my draws.

10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
The weekend just gone, I think it was like 2 days or something.. Felt so bad!

The beauty bloggers that I tag are:
Amy
Emma
Danielle
Katy
Charlotte

Enjoy girlies!

Hope you enjoyed this little tag and look out tomorrow for tomorrow's blog on my SmashBox mini's!
Have a good day beauties x

Love it or Leave it? LEAVE IT!

I woke up today feeling good as you do because Monday is over and I actually had another blog post ready to go up for today as I've been tagged for the Procrastinating Beauty Blogger (which will now be tomorrow, so keep an eye out) but then I discovered the horrible truth of a mascara I thought was supposed to be good! The mascara is called Nouveau Lashes Noir Mascara that comes in at £14.99 which is pricey for a mascara that is easily the equivalent to a cheap store brand mascara. I saw it in my draw and I thought, why not give this a whirl today... Big mistake! To start it was promising.. The brush is good as it separated my lashes well but it just went all down hill from then on wards. The mascara took forever to dry on my lashes as I could feel it when I blinked and they have stayed sticky since I put it on at 8:30 this morning. It has turned my lashes heavy, I feel like they are all stuck together at this very point in time and they have lost the good shape they had in the first place! I was so disappointed in this mascara, wanted to try something new, something that maybe not many people have tried and the only pro about it, it's the brush is a good size! Just goes to prove that costly doesn't equal quality!

Anyway, hope you're all having a nice day! Look out for my Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag tomorrow!

MUA Mini Haul!

Okay my beautiful people, I am back and in the full swing of things! The weekend just gone has just been so busy, I haven't had chance to stop!

Yesterday I went a little cray cray when I went to SuperDrug and picked up a ton of stuff. The main brand I would say I purchased was MUA Make Up Academy. I already have about 3 item from their collection which are a little single eye shadow, a trio shadow and on of their pallets, which I got ages ago which i am addicted to, its the Heaven and Earth pallet, I just think that they are great colours and they are just good eye shadows! They definitely do the job well for how cheap they are that's for sure.
So back to yesterday, I purchased a number of items including 4 of the eye shadow pallets, £4 EACH (magical right), a highlighter, a blush and with all of this I got a free eye shadow tint stick which was cool, like I always say, everybody loves a freebie!
I think there is another eye shadow pallet but I didn't pick that up. I can't remember why but I think it scared me a little by a colour... I'm not sure but hey ho. The pallets are great, there is a great range of shades in each one and they all range from a shimmer finish to matte finish which is good, as i feel like i have too many shimmer finish eye shadows and that can be too much in the day. As i spent over a certain amount, they gave me a free eye shadow tint stick, which i wouldn't of brought so it was nice to try something new out. I was actually really pleased with the colour! I would say its a slight coral pink but the thing i loved about it, was i looked and was like, ah okay cool that's a nice pink colour, then when i tried it on my hand, the shimmer in it is gold! It really compliments the pink and i love love love love it! I think its a great color. As were on the topic of colour, i want to talk about the blusher i got from there too. Now i am someone who only likes a tiny bit of blush on the apples of my cheeks as i have quite pink pigments in my skin so i don't want to enhance itas it can be waaaay too much but the MUA blushes are matte blushes that arent too strong so they are a really soft color which is perfect for me! The colour i got is Lolly and its a really soft colour. The last thing I want to talk about this the highlighter I purchased. Now this highlighter is not for the faint hearted... its is super light, super shimmery and needs to be used with caution! Other than that, i like it! It threw me off a little as when i tried it on my finger, to the touch, it has a strange texture as it pressed with a pattern on but i was like okay, lets go with it and it turned out to be a really nice.

Sorry I've been slow the past few days, just haven't stopped!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend beauts! x

Perfect Primer!

Now I know a lot of people love this primer, but i, of course, wanted to give my views on it..I am talking out the one and only Benefit Porefessional! As I am someone with quite big pores, I am always looking for something that does the job in hiding them. It's so smooth on my face and it leaves it feeling really nice and soft which is perfect for applying my make up on. I mainly focus on my nose and over my checks and my chin, my forehead is generally okay!
Also as the colour is like a beige colour, I would say it slightly evens out my skin tone as well which is always a benefit as I have quite a red tone to my skin and it just made sit all even out! It is a little bit of a hefty price at £24.50 there isn't a huge amount of product, but at the moment they are doing a set with the Porefessional then a sample size of their eye cream 'It's Potent' and the their illuminating primer 'That Gal!' All for the same price as the Porefessional on it own! I can't explain how much I have this primer, if you don't have it in your life then you. We'd to stop what you're doing and go get it! Also benefit are doing a free gift with purchase and who doesn't like a freebie?!

Sorry I haven't blogged guys, I have been soooooooo busy but I am popping to Superdrug in a bit so I'll pick up some stuff and share it all with you!
I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Friday Favourites!

So it's that time of the week again and it's time to reveal my fave outriders from this week. If you have me on Instagram then you know that I had a delivery from Models Own on Wednesday. Now I'm cheating a little as I've only had them since the middle if the week, but I have been waiting for these to come for two weeks so I let myself off haha. So in my delivery I got a new eye shadow brush, some make up sponges and four new nail polishes. I like the eye shadow brush as it's so soft and it's good for getting in the crease and blend. I was slightly disappointed in the make up sponges.. Now I know it's Friday favourites so i shouldnt be mentioning my disappointments but if we're doing the whole box then I need to mention this too?! The sponges I brought didn't really give me a good finish as the sponge was really hard so wasn't overly comfortable to use but I will give it another go! On a brighter note, I ordered four of their nail polishes and WOW! I now want to buy their whole collection! I purchased a glittery pinky purple colour called Northern Lights under the Wonderland Collection, a blue with a soft link undertone called Indian Ocean from the Beatle Juice Collections then two colours from the Fruit Pastel Collection called Blueberry Muffin and Grape Juice. I got quite a range as I just picked the first four that caught my caught my eye! They are really good polishes, they give a really good finish and they are so affordable at £5 each so if you like good nails then I would definitely recommend these polishes! I think i will be doing a little mani tonight so if you keep an eye out on my twitter, i will be posting pictures! Which ones do you guys think I should try first?!

Happy Friday Beauties!

P.S. I am loving the love today guys!!

Bareminerals: Yes or No?!

When it comes to powder, I am not the biggest fan in the world. The only time I use powder is for finishing and contouring as I feel like it just makes my skin feel tight when it's applied a lot and heavy which is not a good look. The reason I bring it up is because my sister loves Bareminerals. Now I cannot stand the thought of putting 10 layers of powder on my face as it just makes face feel tighter and dry just thinking about it! But when I did try it, I use it as a finishing powder and I was pleasantly surprised?! It really helped my make up keep through out the day and it is such a soft powder to go on top of my foundation, not on heaven on my highlight though as that needs a translucent powder. It is a little on the pricey side but it lasts quite along time if you don't go crazy with it!
Another product I have from Bareminerals is their all over colours. I have one called 'Warmth' which is a really deep Bronzer but is quite a matte colour has it has no shimmer. I like this but be warned, you only need the tiniest bit on your brush I'm order to get colour. It may not look like there's much on the brush at all but do not be fooled as I have ended up blending for at least 5 minutes before, just to get that contour subtler! I don't think bareminerals is for everyone, but if you like the lighter coverage then I would suggest it but I definitely think you should go get matched as I think there colours aren't amazing.
So over all... It's good as a product, just only as a finishing powder, not as full face! But each to their own!

Hope you're all having a great week and don't worry as the weekend is nearly here!

Perfect Match

I generally have two different types of make up, everyday and occasion. My occasion make up is a little bit more pricey as I don't use it every day so it becomes more affordable! My everyday make up consists of drugstore make up, generally the newer stuff that comes out and at the moment, my favourite pair is the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Concealer. I think that it is fanatic value for money as it is a great combination to have. It does fit to my skin very well and it is around a medium coverage which is good for a day to day basis. The shade I use is 115 and 15 because on a day to basis I just need coverage and I will add highlighter and Bronzer for a glow so Im not worried about my foundation being a little plain and I have a fair skin tone anyway. The only negative I would say is that it isn't long lasting so if your fine with your make up coming off towards the end of the day then it'll be fine for you! But that the moment it is 3 for 2 on ALL Maybelline products which is amazing! So if you fancy trying it out then definitely purchase it from boots.

Have a great Wednesday guys :) sorry I was quite yesterday, busy busy busy! x

International Love!

I like a lot of the products in the UK because obviously I have been going to Boots and Superdrug for years but sometimes I just want to try something new and the USA have some great products! Obviously a lot of the bigger cosmetics companies are worldwide but I want to find products that originated from the USA or other countries and aren't common. I think I may do a post like this every Monday as I do order a quite a few products and it's good to share :) I enjoy doing a bit of international shopping as it can be cheaper than the items in the UK and I like to be a little bit different and have something that others may not have! The item I am loving at the moment is the Brow Bar To Go by Whitening Lightening. I lovvvvveeeee this product as it has two shades in it and a brow wax which I think is a great little set to have. The case also has a mirror and a little eye brow brush which gives you good precision when filling in your brows. I just use a brow pencil to make my shape and then the brow bar to fill in the brows and extend the arch lower for more definition. As I have quite wide eyes, I need a longer brow for structure. If you guys don't know what lengths and shapes your eye brows should be then let me know and I'll do a blog on it! But back on topic, I really like this product as it's quick and easy to carry around! If you're interested than please use discount code NIC70 for 70% off! Remember as it's the USA, shipping will take a little longer!

A little bit about me!

So as you can all tell, I'm pretty new to the blogging scene, so I wanted to share a blog to let all you guys know a little bit about me.

My full name is Jessica Vannan, but Jess is fine! I am 19, 20 in March and I have a boyfriend that I have been with just under a year (he's the best, just don't tell him that!) called Matt or nicknamed Rug.. If you get it! Haha. I am training to be an accountant... Yes seriously! I'm not on here blogging because it's my profession or I have some degree in make up, journalism or fashion. I do it because I really like doing my make up and my hair , purchasing new products and trying new things... So I thought why not share my thoughts with you guys! I've always wanted to be in the beauty industry but sometimes you just got to take life as it comes.

I have a crazy make up and product obsession... Just not enough money to have a HUGE one haha. I've only been on a plane 4 times and that was to Paris and Italy last year for the first time with Matt.  My favourite colour is blue, the darker the better. I don't like mushrooms and I love Spag Bol. My two best friends are called Olivia and Chantelle. I have a brother and a sister which are both older and from them, I have 2 nieces, Mia, 6 and Flo, 18months and a nephew called Hadley who is 4 in August. I live in a small town in Northamptonshire, where I have lived all of my life which is pretty boring but I like it as it means I get to enjoy bigger cities more as I'm not used to the everyday hustle and bustle. I don't sleep properly if I don't have my pillows (picky, I know) and I love to own like 10 different pairs of PJ's, including leopard and cow print.

Not really sure what else to say but if there is anything else you want to know then please please please just comment or tweet me as I'm happy to answer any questions and I love meeting new people and talking to other bloggers as I am just blown away about how amazingly lovely you all are!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and everyone is safe during the bad weather!

Jewellery Stackers

This is a little off topic but I wanted to talk about more so I thought I would blog about one of my favorite items which is my Jewellery box. I really love my jewellery box as it is soft leather covered trays, stacked on top of each other and lined with a soft spotty fabric which is a little different to the normal jewellery boxes! I think it's a great idea as you can swap and change the different layers, so you can swap and change colours or the layout of the jewellery box which I love! I chose this jewellery box as it wasn't like all the other ones out there, there is enough space for my watch and the boxes some of the items of my jewellery came in, it has a smaller gridded tray it put my earrings and charms in, then it has a top tray that has a lid, where have space for necklaces and bracelets and a ring section too. I love the colour of mine as I'm a big fan of any blue colour and it is small and dainty so it fits perfectly in the corner of my dressing table. I would recommend them to everyone as with the mini one like mine, each tray only comes in at around £14! Bargain!

Friday Favourites!

I have decided to start a Friday Favourites! So every Friday (obviously) I'm going post a blog of the thing I have been loving during the week!

So this week I have been loving... *drum roll*... Ombré nails!
I first saw a picture of them a few months ago and I thought it was one of those things that only highly skilled nail artists can do buuuuuut then I learnt the trick! Now as you can see from the picture, I'm not amazing but it was my first time and I was so impressed! I think it takes a couple of times to get used to it but I think if you're into nails then I definitely would give this a good go! You can do it was almost any colour (as long as they go well together) but I personally like the same colour gradient pattern or I think pastel colours work best. All you need is the polishes and some make up sponges! So if you're bored with plain Jane nails or you just can't decide between colours then give this a whirl!

Happy Valentines Day to all my readers and followers and thank you for reading!

a little bit of luxury!

I generally stick to high street when it comes to my cosmetics and products but when it comes to perfume I prefer something that is a little more expensive. Personally I don't like perfumes that are made by celebrities.. I don't know why but the perfumes never smell as good as ones that are made by designers. My favourite perfume is Dolce & Gabbana 'The One'. For Christmas last year, my lovely boyfriend got me the gift set for it, which I was over the moon about! I just love the smell, I think it's a rich smell and it lasts a long time, as it doesn't fade after you've been wearing it for a while. I just love love love this perfume!

My Liebster Nomination! xo

Hello Beauties!

So as you all know I am fairly new to blogging but I have been nominated for a Liebster Award by Cree Lake... Thank you gorg! Check out her blog here!

For all of you that don't know what a Liebster Nomination is, it's basically where you nominate a few bloggers that have little followers or are just starting out or just so everyone can get to know them a little better :) it's just a little bit of fun for all!

So here are the questions I had to answer:

1) What is your must have beauty product?
That's hard!! I think my must have beauty product is a good moisturiser, because hydrated skin can make a hell of a difference to your complexion so as long as it's in good condition, you won't need foundation!

2) Do you prefer fashion or makeup?
Make Up! Even if you wear plain clothes, at least if you have good hair and make up it brings everything together.

3) What's your favourite thing about blogging?
I think the main thing I love about blogging is that I get to share all my favourite cosmetics and products with everyone and you get to learn about other products i don't know about or new techniques and I think it's great :) lol!

4) If you had to go without one product for a month what would it be?
Dry shampoo... I think it's great stuff but if I had to go without it, I would!

5) Your favourite YouTube guru's?
Nicole Guerriero, Carli Bybel, Jaclyn Hill and Tanya Burr. So annoying I'm in the UK and I can't meet the first 3! :(

6) What are your favourite hobbies?
I don't have many hobbies but I love baking! I don't do it all of the time because then I end up just constantly eating cakes but I think it's great!

7) What's your favourite makeup product?
Bronzer! I love contouring so I just think it's a great product to give your face a lot more structure.

8) Your favourite social media site and why?
Instagram! I love to see everyone's pictures of what they're doing or what they're wearing or how their hair and make up is.

9) What's your favourite fashion piece for winter?
Fluffy knot jumpers. They look great with skirts and so so so so comfy!

10) What's your favourite TV show and why?
Keeping up with the kardashians... I know it's just junk tele but that's why I like it!!

And here are my questions for my nominations!

  1. Blusher or Bronzer and why?
  2. What's your favourite hair style and why?
  3. What's your favourite skin care product?
  4. What's your favourite season and why?
  5. What's your key item in your wardrobe?
  6. What do your Sundays consist of?! (Everyone loves a Sunday)
  7. Twitter or Facebook and why?!
  8. What's been your favourite product this month?
  9. Lip stick or eye shadow?!
  10. Where is your favourite place to shop?
My nominations are:

Can't wait to read my nominations answers and I hope I've done it right!! Haha

Soap & Glory madness!

So as you can see from the picture, I am soap and glory CRAZY! I love a lot about the Soap and Glory range but I think one of the biggest reasons is the pure attention to detail. Each product I have tried from them, does EXACTLY what it says on the tin and I love the packaging on all of the products. I won't talk about all of the products I own but I have picked a few of my top favourite 'can't live without' products. The first would have to be Hand Food hand cream, which I have already written a post about because it's that amazing! It's just so thick and moisturising which is exactly what hands need in this cold weather! It keeps my hands so moisturised for a long period after which is beneficial. Secondly, I neeeeeed to mention 'The Scrub Of You're Life' scrub. This product is a great scrub, so moisturising and it really does leave my skin soft! I had uneven skin on my arms and after using the scrub for a few weeks, it actually evened out my skin on my arms. I was so impressed!
I could go on and on about all of these products but it would be a book not a blog! Haha so I will just say that you should all just go buy Soap and Glory products! xo

Skin Perfection

So they say that the perfect way to achieve good make up is by starting with good condition skin to apply it on. I change up my skin care products from time to time but I always keep to the same routine! At the moment I have a routine that is for morning and then night as it's important to protect your face during the day and restore your skin at night as your skin soaks in most of the product on it when you are sleeping so NEVER SLEEP WITH MAKE UP ON LADIES! So in the morning I will wash my face with Clean & Clear Morning Energy - Skin Energising Daily Facial Scrub as the smell is really nice, it's oil free and it leaves my skin feeling really fresh! I then follow this by L'Oreal Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum, it's really light on the skin and I use this first as I follow it up with the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Correcting Day Cream. I think this is a great combo as it leaves my skin feeling really soft and adds to the base before my primer goes on. I have noticed a different in my skin since I started using the L'Oreal Skin Perfection products so I would definitely recommend it!! That's pretty much morning routine, it's very simple but affective! Then in the evening I will start by removing my eye make up with Simple Eye Make Up Remover, as I find it's the toughest part of my make to remove! I like the Simple Eye Make Up Remover as it's so gentle and perfect for my eyes as you don't need anything harsh on the soft skin around your eyes. I will then scrub my face with Sanctuary Radiance Exfoliator. It is AMAZING! The scrub is great for such a deep clean but he warned, it's not for the delicate skin! You need to have tough skin! To finish off, I'll use the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Toner followed by the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum (I am obviously obsessed with the L'Oreal Skin Perfection range!) and then Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream. So although that was a long winded paragraph, there's actually not a lot to it and it's so important to have a good routine so if you don't then get to Boots ladies! xo

High Five!

They say that our finger tips are one of the most sensitive parts of our bodies. We use our hands every minute of every day, they brave the cold and they are washed at least 3/4 times a day which takes a lot of the moisture out of the skin. The best way to put the moisture back in is by finding a good hand cream. I personally found finding a good hand cream an issue as they either didn't soak in or felt way to thin to actually add moisture. I had this problem UNTIL I tried Soap and Glory Hand Food. OH MY GOSH. I swear by it! I love everything about this hand cream! It soaks well into my hands, it's thick enough to target dry spot and really leaves the skin on my hands soft and supple and I felt the moisture for a long time after I have used the product. AND it smells really good?! There aren't many things I can swear by but this hand cream is a BIG must have in my case. So if you don't have it already, then.. GO GO GO!

Wide Eyes!

I use a primer on a daily basis but like many other women, good primers can come with a larger price tag so I use two different primers, one for everyday then one for occasions where I used my higher end cosmetics. I wanted to write about the cheaper one as I don't want everyone to think that because a primer is by a specific brand and has a bigger price tag, it automatically makes it amazing! Not the way.. So on a daily basis I use the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer for sensitive skin. The reason why it's for sensitive skin is for some unknown biological reason mine and mum's facial skin, can't handle normal Nivea products?! But the sensitive range is fine! Confusing I know... But hey, I still love their products! So the Express Hydration Primer comes in at around £5 and for the price I would say it is amazing value! The primer is slightly more like a gel, it is extremely light on the skin and really does leave your skin hydrated! Once I use it, my skin feels really soft and it leaves a great base for my foundation to sit on. I have used it's for the last 5 months and I won't be changing it for a while!

Secret to clean brushes...

On the market there are SOOOOOOO many different brands or brush cleaners and techniques but I have uncovered the best thing to use!
It's a random story.. But I have two nieces and a nephew and when they stay over, my house has all the essentials. So one evening, I was about to clean all of my make up brushes and then I couldn't find anything to wash the brushes with. That's when I saw Johnson and Johnson Shampoo.. (Hence why I mentioned my niece's and nephew, didn't want you guys to think I'm odd lol) but I thought what a good idea, it's soft but still cleans and is good for keeping naturals oils in the fibres. Once my brushes were dry, they were so soft and felt so good when using them with my make up! AND it's so much cheaper than branded brush cleaner! So there is my tip, Johnson And Johnson Shampoo for cleaning make up brushes! xo
